BAYTRADE is an unprecedented public-private consortium model program under the guidance of the National Export Strategy. BAYTRADE builds on the Bay Area's strength as a world-class business center, and assists small to mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) to export their products and services. BAYTRADE consists of 6 convenient service centers serving the 17 county Greater Bay Area.
As a MBITA member you join the BAYTRADE partnership. The BAYTRADE consortium includes: The East Bay - the City of Oakland/Greater Oakland International Trade Center; The San Francisco Peninsula - the City of San Francisco/Bay Area World Trade Center; Silicon Valley - the City of San Jose Export Resource Center; the North Bay - the North Bay International Trade Center; and the Sacramento Valley and the World Trade Center. Since MBITA became a partner in the BAYTRADE project, beginning October 1, 1994, it has directly supported over 50 different Monterey Bay Region companies in developing new global markets. As of April 1, 1998 a total of 72 export actions totaling over $3,000,000 in export transactions has been documented. "BAYTRADE, the unprecedented regional partnership, funded in part by the U.S. Department of Commerce-Economic Development Administration (EDA) and International Trade Administration (ITA), provides a vital service to California industry. The mission is an important one - one that creates new jobs through the dynamic expansion of exports from the Greater Bay Area."
