Todd Acker - Bio

Todd Acker has been in the transportation industry for 29 years beginning with a Denver-based national LTL carrier in 1983. In 14 years he transferred from Denver to Chicago to Oakland back to Denver and finally back to Chicago where he directed sales for an 8 state region. After joining FedEx in 1999, he moved to San Jose and he has been working in the International Market for the last 13 years.  He frequently travels on business to Asia with focus on Japan, China, and Hong Kong.  He has additionally traveled to Europe for FedEx.

Mr. Acker is currently the Regional Manager for International Sales responsible for Northern California and the state of Hawaii. He also manages the International Route Development for FedEx's U.S./Japan lane and helped create a robust US Wine Export program.  Mr. Acker is a graduate of Northern Colorado University with a degree in Business Administration.

Susan Barich will discuss progress made in the last 18 months in creating the tri-county regional business ecosystem to support this new ag-tech industry cluster.

has a history of consulting with large clients to promote and raise awareness for their products. This presentation will take a look at how we can build an identity, a brand for the whole Monterey Bay, built upon it's great wine industry, fresh produce and fine cusine, and its tourism. There is a story to be told, and an amazing and unique image to create that if exposed, people outside of this area will wish to visit, and will associate products from this region with the campaign as a sexy destination that they have heard great things about. The time has come for the entire Monterey Bay to unite to tell of this unique microcosm that people must see to believe.



Rodger and Alec Wasson - Bio

Rodger Wasson has managed a range of agricultural associations, including state and national check-offs and membership organizations for beef, pork, lamb, wool, almonds, berries and processed tomatoes. He and his son Alec have a consulting business based in Monterey Bay, California from where they assist food and agriculture organizations through "Idea Farming--the planting, cultivation and harvesting of ideas for profitable transitions". Alec Wasson has worked with the California Grown Campaign, The Wine Institute, The Chilean Fresh Fruit Association as well as a stint in the high tech world in San Francisco before joining Wasson Idea Farming in 2010. His strength and passion lies in working within the Ag and Wine industries and connecting people and campaigns to big ideas through video, social media or events.

Mark Brody - Bio

Mark Brody is a 30 year banking veteran who currently oversees Umpqua Bank's commercial lending activities in the Bay Area. Umpqua has a commercial lending presence in Santa Rosa, St. Helena, Napa, Vacaville, Walnut Creek, San Jose and San Francisco. In addition to providing services to a broad array of middle market companies in those markets, Umpqua also has a Wine Specialty group operating out of Santa Rosa, St. Helena, Napa and San Francisco that caters to the wine and vineyard industry.

Mr. Brody has a broad banking background that includes experience throughout the Bay Area including time spent at City National Bank, Sanwa Bank California and Bank of America. He also was CEO and general manager of Cline Cellars in Sonoma from 2001 to 2003.

Tricia Linden - Bio

Tricia Linden, Vice President, FX Relationship Manager of the International Banking Division of Umpqua Bank, has nearly thirty years of experience in foreign exchange and international banking. She started her banking career while still in college and was immediately drawn to the exciting world of foreign exchange. She prefers the business environment of community and regional banks that service mid-size commercial customers with an emphasis on customer relationships. Ms Linden joined Umpqua Bank’s International Banking Division in September 2010 and truly enjoys working for the “World’s Greatest Bank”.

Chris Damm - Bio

Chris Damm received a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Trade with minors in Mandarin Chinese and Cultural Anthropology from the University of California Santa Barbara.

Mr. Damm is the current Director of the Monterey Bay Export Assistance Center and has worked as a Trade Specialist at the San Jose Export Assistance Center for the last 13 years.  During this time Chris has also worked at several U.S. Embassies and Consulates including:  Beijing, China (5 assignments), Johannesburg, South Africa, Taipei, Taiwan and Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

Tony Livoti - Bio

In 1984 Mr. Livoti founded the Monterey Bay International Trade Association (MBITA) and under his leadership MBITA became a founding partner in a public-private sector export promotion program called BayTrade in 1995. For the next five years under an EDA grant the BayTrade program help create over $350 million in 'new-to-market' exports from companies throughout 17 counties in Northern California. MBITA has grown over the years to become a self-sustaining non-profit with over 200 members, clients and foreign counterpart partnerships through the Pacific Rim, the European Union, Africa and the Americas. MBITA has also become a leader in California on utilizing web based solutions for conducting, facilitating and consummating global trade transactions for small to mid-sized enterprises.
