Description: The Monterey Bay International Trade Association (MBITA) (www.mbita.org) and the Monterey Export Assistance Center (EAC) of the U.S. Department of Commerce (www.usatrade.gov) cordially invite you to attend the Santa Cruz Chapter luncheon meeting for November.

Guest speakers:

Jonathan Chu, Vice President of the International Department of East-West Bank (www.eastwestbank.com) will be giving a presentation on how the East-West Bank can act as an excellent marketing vehicle for your business to meet qualified foreign partners in China and other countries in the Far East. Additionally, he will be discussing how the East West Bank is very aggressive to help smaller companies finance their exports and imports of products and services.

The East West Bank, who recently became Corporate Sponsors for MBITA, is headquartered in San Marino, Ca. with a Northern California branch headed up by Mike Farstad who was the former director for the California Export Finance Office (CEFO)

Jim Lucchesi, Branch Manager for the San Francisco Satellite Office of EximBank (www.eximbank.com) will also be giving a presentation on how the Export-Import Bank of the United States, an independent agency of the federal government, has one mission:- to help the private sector create and maintain American jobs by financing exports. Loans, guarantees, insurance, claims and other services are provided to American exporters through his office. Recently, EximBank has made special efforts to focus on smaller business and their export financing needs.

Keith Bovetti, Director of Export Development for the State of California, will give a presentation titled "Partnering Helps Get Us There! -Banding Together for Global Trade."I believe the key to California's future, as the 5th leading economy in the world, is to view our businesses, from the start-up company to the export-ready firm, as global citizens with all the potential that suggests. This should be particularly true of small and medium size companies. That being said, I also believe that in this day and age, none of us as trade promotion entities can go it alone. If one looks closely, as the Monterey Bay International Trade Association (MBITA) is doing with its luncheon conference, "International Banking and Marketing, Partners in Trade", we all provide unique services. As such, it is time to band together as partners, so as to provide a broad menu of opportunities and service, which California businesses richly deserve", states Mr. Bovetti.
