Panelists:

  • MARK LAVI - Global B-to-B solutions
    Senior Consultant of Atarex Communications

After the highs of the technology sector in 2001, market corrections and economic downturn have been compounded by the trauma of September 11th. But there is an upside to these events: a focus on basic business skills and values combined with Internet based tools can help global business continue today with even better efficiency and security. Riding on the frantic pace of technology development, advances in the Internet network and application platforms are driving affordable advances to business. Mr. Lavi's presentation will discuss network effects of adding, expanding, or becoming an e-business offer competitive advantages that can effect every part of your business.

  • STEPHEN JURWICH - Remote Access Technologies
Account Manager of Monterey Information Technologies (MIT)

Extending the virtual office for years, MIT has been the regional leader for remote access technologies. Using VoIP (VoiceOver IP) and thin-client along with virtual private networking. MIT can design and implement business productivity anywhere over any connection speed to almost any device. All critical data, applications and voice can be accessable to customer, staff and administration while cutting cost and increasing return on investment.

  • JAMES ROWLAND - Global ecommerce and liability insurance
    Account Executive of Scanlan Guerra

There is a growing trend to do business via the internet and we are seeing a lot of problems in both, crime, intellectual property, cyber vandalism and other questions that are not being covered by standard insurance either domestically or by foreign insurance coverage. Currently the standard insurance contracts that would protect the insured from damage or theft caused by cyber business may not apply. The Electronic Data type contracts call for the direct physical damage to the equipment. Hackers can steel or vandalize your intellectual property does not result in direct physical damage such as fire or even power surges. Theft means the act of hold-up or forced entry, and can even be shown as theft from a known place and time. However if the information is still there and only the blue prints or customer lists are still in the computer then how were they physically stolen. Mr. Rowland presentation will give an overview of new contracts being developed for the insured public to meet these needs.

  • DONNA PERRA - Video conferencing
    SR Manager Conferencing, Worldcom

    CHRIS BERGLUND - Video conferencing
    Video Account Manager, WorldCom

Video Conferencing, more than any other technology, will arguably have the largest effect on Global Business in the future. With recent world events, and the staggering costs of international travel, Video Conferencing offers one of the most effective alternatives to travel. This is due to the fact that Video Conferencing allows attendants to physically see and hear each other. The new enhancements that have come to fruition in the past few years will also allow users to show rich media while on a call. In fact, users can see and hear each other at the same time as they show presentations. This comes as close as any technology could to the interaction that takes place in face to face meetings. The Video Conferencing industry has taken great pains to make the equipment easier to use and much more reliable. Video Conferencing systems are much easier to use that they used to be, and are much more likely to connect the first time, and stay up. The added functionality and greater reliability of the current generation Video Conferencing units have made them an invaluable business tool. The industry hopes that Video Conferencing becomes as important a business tool as the cell phone and PC have.

  • JULIAN WHITE - Global B-to-B Consultant
Ex Director /Training & Support Services for Grey Zone Productions, Inc.

Mr. White will give a presentation on contents management and the importance and uses of private portals. The key to success with a a Global E-commerce business plan or initiative is effective content management. For businesses that want to effectively manage their web content, content management systems that allow non-technical users to publish web content from a browser from any place in the world through simple point-and-click templates are emerging
